Pastors Letter for the 2021 annual meeting:

“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism”Ephesians 4:1-32

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

On January 24 immediately following our worship (approximately 10:50am), members of Calvary Lutheran will gather for the 2020 Annual Meeting of the congregation. All confirmed members of the congregation are eligible to attend and to vote on matters that come before the assembly. According to Calvary’s constitution, the presence of thirty-five (35) members is required to allow the meeting to proceed.

The year 2020 has been an extraordinary one with daily life and worship life lived amidst a pandemic. The Saint Paul Area Synod recognizes that for congregations who have been worshipping in a hybrid manner that accommodation should be made for those parishioners who prefer to worship via Zoom or other live-stream methods to participate in a congregation’s annual meeting.

Therefore, Calvary members who worship via Zoom will be counted in the quorum count and will be able to vote in the following manner: at the time of a vote, the Zoom moderator will call on each individual by name and ask for their preference in the vote, yea or nay. Zoom attendees should be aware that their votes will NOT be anonymous. Every effort will be made to ensure that Zoom attendees will be able to follow the meeting and ask questions through the chat feature of Zoom

Copies of the Annual Report of the Congregation, budget, as well as the slate of elections will be emailed along with the Zoom invitation for January 24th worship. If a member does not have email, copies of the reports will be made available prior to worship. Those individuals wishing to pick up copies are encouraged to call ahead to ensure that the church will be open.

Social distancing guidelines and good health practices will be followed at our meeting. Masks are required and it is estimated that the total exposure time for worship + annual meeting should be under an hour.

Please do not hesitate to call (320-237-0652) or email me (vicki.vandervegt@gmail.com) with any questions.

Living into God’s Grace,

Pastor Vicki L. VanderVegt
